A home game. Twenty minutes down the road, no motorway, no service station sandwich costing more than the fuel. And then we spent forty-five minutes watching our own team play like the away side at our own ground.
Fifteen minutes. Ao Tanaka rolled it across and Jayden Bogle tapped in at the back post while our lot pointed at each other like men arguing over a restaurant bill.

And that flattered us. Tanaka rattled the crossbar. Tanaka had another chalked off for offside. Dominic Calvert-Lewin turned in the box, teed up James Justin, and Bart Verbruggen had to be brilliant. Calvert-Lewin then missed the sort of chance that would have emptied the ground by four o'clock. Kostoulas had our best moment and hit it straight at James Trafford, who barely moved his gloves.
Half Time, And Jane From The Zip
Bumped into Jane from the Zip in Harvey's bar at the break. She looked at me over a glass of red and delivered the entire match report in six words.
"Shocking. It ain't no Villa game."
Thirteen days earlier we put four past Aston Villa inside thirty-one minutes and had grown adults leaving on the half hour. Now this. Jane is not often wrong.
In fairness, we were without Kaoru Mitoma, Yankuba Minteh and Jack Hinshelwood, which is most of the reason anybody buys a ticket. Leeds lost Joe Rodon for something like ten weeks and still looked the more organised side.
The Bit Where We Remembered
Second half, better. Malick Yalcouye curled one Trafford had to tip wide, and from the corner Maxim De Cuyper hung it to the back post where Luka Vuskovic climbed above everyone and nodded it in.
1-1. Nineteen minutes to go.
Forty-six million pounds, club record, from Spurs, and his first goal in English football. A centre-half doing the striker's job, which is either a lovely story or a mild worry, depending how you look at it.
We nearly nicked it. Eighty-nine minutes, Pascal Gross inside the box, ball over the bar and into row F. Then Lukas Nmecha went close at the other end and I stopped watching properly.
The Table, Briefly
Leeds have five points from three under Daniel Farke and remain unbeaten. We have four, a point behind them. They also beat us 1-0 on the final day last season, so that's four points off us in two meetings and I'd rather not discuss it further.
Final Thought
This is a point won, not two dropped, and anyone telling you otherwise didn't watch the first half. We were second to everything in front of our own crowd and still got something out of it.
Jane was right at half time. The trick now is making her wrong by October.
Take care of yourselves. And each other. Especially Jane, who called it before the second bottle of Red was finished.
